Monitoring pushes every register change to you as a webhook — the Watchlist is now its home in the browser: the companies you follow on the left, every signal from the last twelve months on the right, newest first. And if you would rather read in a feed reader: the same watchlist is now available as an RSS and Atom feed for anything that speaks feeds.

Every company, one feed

You will find the watchlist under Monitoring → Watchlist:

• One click filters. Every watched company sits on the left with its status and signal count — one click shows only its events. Event types like management changes or capital changes filter the same way.
• Busy days stay readable. When one company reports many changes on a single day, we bundle them into one line — nothing buries the other companies.
• Extend it right there. Search the company, click — done. Follow up to 15 companies without any webhook; companies with a monitor appear automatically.

The watchlist itself costs nothing.

Your watchlist as an RSS/Atom feed

For feed readers, Slack, n8n, and anything else that speaks feeds: generate a private feed URL on the watchlist — as RSS 2.0 or Atom 1.0.

• Its own key, not your API key. The URL carries a dedicated credential you can rotate or disable at any time — your API key stays out of it.
• 20 credits per refresh, at most once per hour. No matter how often your reader polls — everything in between is free.
• The feed never breaks. If your balance ever runs short, it simply keeps the last known state and resumes as soon as credits are back.

With Signals you ask: what changed, across every company? Monitoring turns that around — we come to you. Pick one company, choose how often we look, and every new change in the register goes straight to your application. No more checking back yourself. From 10 credits per 30 days, for every account, no subscription needed.

Three steps to your first webhook

1. Add a webhook endpoint. It takes a name and a publicly reachable HTTPS address. You get a signing secret exactly once — store it right away, we never show it again.

2. Prove the endpoint is yours. We send a signed test message, your receiver answers it, and the endpoint goes active. You can trigger a real test send whenever you want, before you spend anything.

3. Create the monitor.

From then on you only get what is new. Anything already in the register before you started is not sent — otherwise day one would be a flood of old news. The first check runs shortly after you create the monitor.

In the browser you do all of this in the Playground: look up a company, open the Monitoring tab, pick the rhythm and the destination.

What a cycle costs

Credits only, per rolling 30-day cycle:

Failed checks are free, and so are creating a monitor, verification, test sends, and a check that finds nothing. You pay for the rhythm, not for attempts.

What arrives

A signed JSON message carrying the complete signal, in the same shape the Signals API returns — so you can process it directly, without a second request. If your endpoint does not answer, we try again. The verification recipe and the full message format are in the Monitoring documentation.

What your plan covers

Every monitor checks the same seven topics — new registrations, master data changes, management changes, capital changes, closures, insolvencies Pro, and transformations & M&A Max. The first five come with every account, no subscription needed. Which of them you actually receive depends on your plan: topics it does not cover are not sent — and not sent later either, if you upgrade further down the line.

Until now you looked up a company and checked what had happened to it. Signals turns the question around: you ask the commercial register what is happening right now — across every company. New registrations, management changes, capital changes, closures, insolvencies, mergers. Each change arrives as a normalized signal with consistent fields, instead of the raw text of a publication. Try it for free in the Playground.

Seven topics, one filter

You filter Signals by topic. Every signal belongs to exactly one of them:

• New registrations — companies newly entered in the commercial register
• Master data changes — company name, seat, business address, or register identity
• Management changes — entries, exits, and changes of managing directors, board members, and holders of procura
• Capital changes — when a company's capital base changes
• Closures & dissolutions — when a company is wound up or disappears from the register
• Insolvencies — insolvency proceedings across their whole course Pro
• Transformations & M&A — when companies fundamentally change their structure or ownership Max

The first five topics are open to every account — including no plan at all, and Plus. Anything outside these seven, such as purpose changes or branch offices, is still reachable through the OTHER topic.

How you query it

There is also /v1/signals/{signal_id} for a single signal in full detail, and /v1/signals/catalog for the topic list — the catalog is free, it is only metadata.

Pricing

• 20 credits per successful request — no matter how many signals come back in it.
• Request a topic above your plan and you get a clear 403 PLAN_REQUIRED — at 0 credits. Getting the plan wrong costs you nothing.

Good to know

• Without topics you only get the topics your plan covers: five on no plan and on Plus, six on Pro, seven on Max. So send topics explicitly as soon as the exact scope matters.
• Signals has just launched and we are still building on it. If a topic is missing or a signal looks misfiled, tell us — that is exactly what this phase is for.

Search results now become finished company lists: build your search in the Playground — industry, region, legal form, size, financials — and download the result as an Excel, CSV, or JSON file with one click. Each export delivers up to 5,000 organizations from the live register result set, with the released register fields and published addresses available for those organizations. No API, no code required.

From search to list in three steps

1. Search — combine any filters in the Playground: "software companies in Bavaria", "GmbHs above €1m revenue in Munich", "new registrations from the last 30 days" …
2. Export — click "Export" and pick a format. You see the server-calculated upper price before you confirm; if the live quote changes, you review the refreshed figure first.
3. Download — the export keeps running in the background, even if you leave the page. As soon as it finishes, the file is waiting on your new Jobs page.

What's in your file

Every delivered organization uses the same fixed released-field projection. CSV and Excel expose flat columns — extra columns for your search criteria appear only when your search uses them; JSON delivers the same data as a data array of nested objects:

• Company name and core register data (register court, register type, register number)
• Its published address and geocoordinates when available — ready for mapping and territory planning
• Registration date and the business purpose in plain text
• The Excel file arrives formatted in the handelsregister.ai design and is ready to use as-is; the CSV opens cleanly in Excel, and JSON is there for your tools.

By the way: some companies and many registered associations (Vereine) publish no address in the Handelsregister. By default those entries stay out so your list is immediately usable — with the option "Include companies without an address" you can deliberately keep them in.

Fair pricing, known up front

• 50% off at launch: every price you see here is an introductory price — until August 19 you export at half price. The perfect moment to pull your first lists.
• The upper price is confirmed before you start — smaller lists from 50 credits, and an export capped at 5,000 organizations costs at most 950 credits.
• You're charged only after a usable complete or partial file is produced — and only for organizations actually delivered in that file.
• A failed export that produces no usable file costs nothing. If an export stops early, you get the companies found up to that point as a clearly marked partial file — and you're billed only for the rows actually in it.

Good to know

• All your exports live together on the Jobs page. Each download link stays valid for 24 hours; the saved request can be re-run only while its retention period remains active (currently 30 days).
• Every export is a live lookup against the register — not a frozen snapshot, and not a guarantee of completeness. The register changes continuously, so the same search can return a different result later. Running it again produces a new file that may overlap an earlier one, and is priced as a separate export.

Your account is now an API itself: /api/v1/account gives you read-only access to your profile, credit balance, usage history, and subscription status — and lets you manage your API keys entirely via API. All account endpoints are free and never consume credits.

What you can build with it

Your own dashboards, billing alerts, cost-center reports, or admin tooling — without scraping and without going through our dashboard:

• GET /v1/account — profile summary: name, email, language, current plan.
• GET /v1/account/credits — balance with a per-grant breakdown and the next expiry date.
• GET /v1/account/usage — aggregated usage: totals, per-endpoint breakdown, daily or monthly time series (ranges up to 366 days).
• GET /v1/account/usage/transactions — every billed request individually, as a cursor-paginated ledger.
• GET /v1/account/subscription — plan, status, billing period, included features.

Managing API keys via API

• GET /v1/account/api-keys — list active keys (masked, with last-use timestamp and per-key 30-day usage).
• POST /v1/account/api-keys and DELETE /v1/account/api-keys/{id} — create keys and revoke them immediately.

Key management is deliberately locked down: creating and revoking only work with an admin token, which you can mint exclusively on your profile page. An API key itself can never create or destroy credentials — so a leaked key stays limited to data access.

Good to know

• Authentication via the x-api-key header or a Bearer token only — ?api_key= in the URL is rejected on the account endpoints.

/api/v1/fetch-organization now delivers two new data points:

• Representation scheme (representation_scheme) — the company's general representation scheme as a new base field. In addition, every person under related_persons carries their specific representation power (role_representation_scheme, e.g. "einzelvertretungsberechtigt…" or "Gesamtprokura…") as well as the company-level scheme (organization_representation_scheme).
• Shareholder history (shareholders.history) — previous shareholder lists as a time series: for each state (as_of) you get the complete list of that date with capital, stakes, and roles. This shows you how a company's cap table evolved over the years.

Why the representation scheme matters

Who is allowed to sign for a company with legal effect — alone or only jointly? That is exactly what the representation scheme answers, on two levels:

• Company-wide rule — the company's general principle (e.g. "two managing directors jointly, or one managing director together with an authorized signatory"). Before closing any contract you instantly see whether a single signature can even be sufficient.
• Per person — what a specific managing director or Prokurist is actually allowed to do (e.g. sole power of representation, exemption from § 181 BGB, joint Prokura only together with another signatory). Essential for KYC/KYB checks and for knowing whether your counterpart may sign alone.

Try it now

• API — the new fields arrive automatically with feature=shareholders and feature=related_persons (documentation with response examples). The history costs nothing extra: shareholders is only billed when the current list contains at least one entry.
• Playground — representation scheme, per-person representation powers, and the expandable shareholder history are visualized right on the homepage.

Open to everyone — through August 15

The shareholder history is available to all accounts up to and including 2026-08-15 — just give it a try. After that it becomes part of the Pro and higher plans.

The new mergers_and_acquisitions feature on /api/v1/fetch-organization surfaces a company's M&A history straight from the commercial register — structured, bilingual (de/en), and machine-readable:

• Transactions over time — mergers, splits, and enterprise agreements (e.g. profit-transfer and partial profit-transfer agreements) including date, type, the company's role (acquiring/transferring), and counterparties with register data
• Control relationships — who controls the company and whom it controls itself (incl. loss-absorption obligation and "since" date)
• Summary — transaction count, categories, and covered period at a glance
• Cost: 20 credits — only charged when data is returned

A major release with four new building blocks for a fuller view of companies and decision-makers — person profiles, ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs), shareholdings, and yearly subscriptions.

New: Person profiles

The new endpoint /api/v1/fetch-person and the Person Profile Playground bring Handelsregister data and web evidence together into a single response:

• Handelsregister + AI in one response — name, date of birth, place of residence, and commercial-register roles (e.g. managing director) enriched with biography, areas of expertise, and contact details sourced from the web
• Disambiguation via company context — required person_q and organization_q parameters (min. 2 chars each) ensure the right person is returned, even for common names
• Profiles & affiliations — LinkedIn, GitHub, website, and additional affiliations included
• AI Mode always on — 15 credits per call (AI surcharge already bundled in)

Included in the Plus, Pro, and Max plans.

New: Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs)

The new ubos feature on /fetch-organization surfaces the actual beneficial owners of a company — including ownership percentage and how the connection was established:

• Resolved vs. unresolved owners — shown separately, with a coverage indicator in the playground so you can immediately see how much of the ownership chain is traceable
• 25% threshold per German AML law (GwG) — owners at or above 25% are flagged as UBO; stakes below are labeled "below 25%"
• Cost: 10 credits — only charged when data is returned

Ready to use for KYC, AML, and supplier screening.

New: Shareholdings

The new shareholdings feature shows which other companies a legal entity or natural person holds shares in — the inverse view to the shareholder list:

• Ownership percentage, contribution, and effective date for each held company
• Works on both organizations (/fetch-organization) and persons (/fetch-person)
• Cost: 5 credits — only charged when data is returned

Complements the existing shareholder list with the opposite perspective: not just who owns this company, but what does this person or entity hold.

New: Yearly subscriptions

All plans are now available as a yearly subscription — with up to 15% savings compared to monthly billing.

• Yearly billing for all plans (Plus, Pro, Max)
• Monthly credits — your credits still refresh every month automatically, just like with a monthly subscription
• Dashboard display — you can see at any time which month of your yearly cycle you're in
• Switch any time — remaining credits carry over when you change plans

Company data can now be retrieved in Realtime Mode directly from the Handelsregister — with live base data and current person information.

Realtime Mode

The new parameter realtime_mode=handelsregister-default delivers live data from the Handelsregister:

• Current directors & authorized signatories — Persons are automatically returned with the latest registry data
• Live base data — Address, legal form, and registration information directly from the source
• Cost: 10 credits — Only charged on successful retrieval, no charge when realtime data is unavailable

Limitations (Beta)

Some features are not available in Realtime Mode:

• Management/Persons — Automatically covered by the realtime data
• Publication history — Not yet available in Realtime Mode

Playground & API

Annual financial statements can now be retrieved as formatted HTML — with colored tables, proper structure, and optimized readability. This release also includes a comprehensive update to the Company Explorer.

Annual Statements as HTML

In addition to the existing Markdown format (annual_financial_statements), a new feature is now available: annual_financial_statements__html. This delivers annual financial statements as fully formatted HTML with:

• Colored balance sheet tables (dark headers, light data rows)
• Proper text structure and paragraph formatting

Explorer Update

The Company Explorer has been redesigned:

• Split-view for documents — Shareholder lists, articles of association, annual statements and register extracts open directly alongside the profile
• Autocomplete — Company search with suggestions as you type
• Share links — Share company profiles including open documents via link

New Document Types in the Explorer

Four document types are now available directly in the company profile:

• Shareholder List — Current shareholders
• Articles of Association — Company statutes and organizational rules
• AD – Current Extract — Current register extract
• CD – Chronological Extract — Complete register history

You can now access articles of association / bylaws / statutes for many companies. This helps you quickly understand how a company is legally structured.

New Search Filters

The company search has been extended with numerous powerful filters:

• Industry filter: Search by WZ codes or industry categories
• Location filter: Filter by federal state, city, or postal code area
• Legal form filter: GmbH, AG, UG, OHG, KG, and more
• Size filter: Employee count and revenue classes
• Commercial register number: Direct search by HR number

These filters can be combined in any way to find exactly the companies that match your criteria.

WZ2025 Classification

From now on, we return the new WZ2025 classification alongside the existing WZ2008 classification. WZ2025 is the current economic activity classification from the German Federal Statistical Office and offers:

• More current industry classifications
• Better coverage of modern business models
• Compatibility with EU classifications (NACE Rev. 2.1)

Both classifications are returned in parallel in the API response, giving you the flexibility to choose which one to use.
