Consolidated Financial Statement

The Consolidated Financial Statement is the consolidated annual financial statement of a group, where all asset, financial, and income positions of parent and subsidiary companies are combined into a unified set of figures. According to § 290 HGB, large and medium-sized, capital market-oriented companies are required to prepare a Consolidated Financial Statement in addition to their individual financial statement and disclose it in the Federal Gazette. The statement includes the balance sheet, profit and loss account, notes, cash flow statement, statement of changes in equity, and – for publicly listed companies – a segment report. The aim of consolidated financial reporting is to provide investors, creditors, and other stakeholders with transparent, comparable information about the economic situation of the entire corporate group. The preparation can be done according to the commercial law regulations of the HGB or international standards like IFRS; in both cases, an audit by an independent auditor is required.
